Your FRP Covered Grating Solution
FRP Covered Grating is a product formed by adding a cover layer to the surface of load-bearing FRP grating, which is commonly used in industrial operation platforms, gutter covers and stair treads. Because the surface is closed, it prevents liquids from seeping out of the grating holes, reduces the risk of chemical gas leakage, and prevents tools or small parts from falling underneath the grating, making it suitable for environments that require high levels of safety.
FRP Covered Grating adopts a high proportion of glass fiber and high-quality resin composite molding, with stable acid and alkali resistance and corrosion resistance, can be used for a long time in the environment from room temperature to 100 ℃. Under normal working conditions, its service life can exceed 20 years. We can provide design, production and installation services according to the actual situation on site, and customize the size, surface form and color to meet different loading conditions and installation requirements.
FRP Covered Grating weighs significantly less than steel grating while meeting load requirements. This makes the transportation and installation process easier and helps to reduce overall construction costs. Currently, FRP Covered Grating has been widely used in the chemical, wastewater treatment, and power industries, improving the safety of field operations and the efficiency of post-maintenance by reducing problems such as leakage and slipping.

Leakage & Safety
FRP Covered Grating is a closed design that effectively prevents liquid leakage and chemical vaporization. This solves the problem of open grating in chemical plants, wastewater treatment plants or industrial platforms, which can cause pollution and safety hazards. The grille’s non-slip surface and integral closure not only prevents tools or parts from falling, but also protects operators from accidental injury.

Reduce Long-Term Maintenance Costs
Maintenance and replacement costs can be reduced with FRP Covered Grating. Compared to steel or concrete covers, FRP will not rust or crack and does not require frequent painting or corrosion protection. In a chemical plant or wastewater treatment environment, this material can save approximately 30%-50% in annual maintenance costs and damage from downtime. The grating’s light weight and high load-bearing capacity make it easier to handle and install, while the material has a life expectancy of more than 20 years.
High Load Carrying Capacity
Despite its light weight, FRP Covered Grating can withstand high loads on industrial platforms, trench covers and stair treads. Its fiberglass-reinforced resin structure ensures that it won’t warp or crack over time and is resistant to aging and weathering. You can quickly choose the right model according to the actual load without worrying about safety.

Applications of FRP Covered Grating
FRP Covered Grating can be used in industrial and municipal environments to provide a safe and reliable load bearing solution. Suitable for installation on utility platforms, trench covers and stair treads, it meets the needs of the chemical, wastewater and power industries for leakage and corrosion resistance and high load-bearing capacity.

In chemical and petrochemical plants, FRP Covered Grating is commonly used for operating platforms and pipeline passages. Its closed design prevents liquid leakage and harmful gas vaporization, thus reducing the risk of accidents. FRP materials are resistant to strong acids, alkalis and organic solvents, thus providing long-term reliability.

Trench covers and platforms in wastewater treatment plants are in constant contact with water and sludge. Closed grating with FRP Covered Grating prevents liquids from splashing and debris from falling into the trench, improving drainage efficiency and operational safety.

FRP Covered Grating is commonly installed in power plants and various utilities in locations such as overhead walkways, boiler platforms, and service access roads. FRP Covered Grating has stable loading performance and is not easily deteriorated, so it can maintain structural reliability under long-term operating conditions, ensuring the safety of personnel access and equipment maintenance.

Offshore platforms, port terminals and ship decks are exposed to long term humidity and high salt spray, which makes the metal materials easy to corrode. FRP Covered Grating adopts a closed structure, which reduces the leakage of liquids and reduces the risk of slipping and falling. At the same time, its material has good resistance to salt spray and humidity, making it suitable for long-term installation in marine environments.

In food processing and pharmaceutical workshops, FRP Covered Grating is mostly used for operating platforms and gutter covers. These facilities require high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. The closed surface of FRP Covered Grating prevents liquid leakage and reduces the accumulation of dirt and bacteria, making daily cleaning easier. Moreover, its corrosion-resistant material will not be damaged by cleaning agents or sanitizers, helping to reduce maintenance frequency and safeguard production.
FRP Covered Grating has a closed flap that prevents liquid leakage and dust, reducing cleaning and maintenance efforts.FRP Covered Grating has the lightweight, high-strength characteristics of FRP, while the Covered design is more convenient for routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections than regular FRP grating.
We offer standard sizes of grating, or we can customize the length, width and thickness to meet your site requirements. Individual pieces can be up to 6 meters long, with thicknesses ranging from 20-50 mm, and can be adapted to fit different trenches, decks and staircases. Our customized production ensures that each piece of grating is precisely matched to your on-site installation requirements.
There are three main types of FRP Covered Grating surfaces: Sic grit is the most slip-resistant, suitable for slippery or oily environments and reduces the risk of slips and falls. The grit surface is suitable for general industrial platforms and drains, and is both slip-resistant and wear-resistant. Grit surface is suitable for general industrial platforms and drains, non-slip and wear-resistant. Diamond-shaped panels can prevent liquid dripping and gas evaporation, suitable for chemical or sewage treatment environments.
The flame resistance of FRP Covered Grating depends on the material used. Phenolic resins have excellent flame retardant properties, with an ASTM flame spread coefficient of <5. They can withstand 180°C for a long period of time and maintain structural integrity even when near high temperatures or sources of ignition, making them suitable for high fire risk areas. Vinyl is suitable for general flame retardant requirements and has good corrosion resistance.
We offer M-, L-, and C-clamps, as well as standard screws and spacers for fastening and splicing. For installation, for guttering or decking, the supporting edge of the grating should be no less than 40 mm, with an edge gap of 3-6 mm; for steps, 8 fixing clamps are required for each piece of grating to ensure stability and no warping. If necessary, we can also provide on-site installation guidance services.
FRP is recyclable and can be disposed of as a recycled material after more than 20 years of use. We use solvent-free resins in our manufacturing process to reduce VOC emissions and comply with ISO environmental standards.
FRP Covered Grating Selection Guide
FRP cladding grating is usually used in applications with high requirements for load bearing, safety and environmental control. For example, if there are acid and alkali media in the trench, the grating not only needs to bear the weight, but also to prevent the media from spilling; on the operation platform, the cladding structure is needed to prevent the liquid from dripping; and the stair treads need to be non-slip design to ensure the safety of personnel.
Whether to use a cladding grille according to the specific working conditions of the site to decide. If there are corrosive media, high temperature environment, strict fire requirements, or maintenance is not convenient, these will affect the performance of the grille. When choosing, it is important not only to look at the load capacity, but also to select the right type of resin, cladding, anti-slip design, grating thickness and load rating in relation to the working conditions.
